What can I expect from the Great Singapore Sale 2015?

The GSS 2015 is basically eight weeks of fun shopping, exciting promotions and great deals on everything, ranging from accessories, electronics, furniture and jewellery.

When does it start?

The Great Singapore Sale starts on 29 May (Friday) and ends on 26 July 2015 (Sunday).

Where should I go?

It is important for you to arm yourself with this knowledge: WHERE to find the best deals and offers during the GSS period.

Stopover 1: Orchard Road

The epicentre of the GSS is none other than Orchard Road.  This world-famous shopping belt is a shopaholic’s (or window shopaholic’s) dream come true. Tourists and locals alike will be fascinated by the dining, shopping and entertainment options. Orchard Road has roughly 22 malls, offering almost 5,000 brands, from high street labels to designer marques.

Don’t be overwhelmed. Start from Orchard MRT Station (NS22/TE14) and make your way to ION Orchard, just above the Orchard MRT station, which houses the flagship stores of major designer brands such as Prada, Louis Vuitton and Cartier.

Move further along past Wisma Atria to find Takashimaya Shopping Centre, and Ngee Ann City. If you get hungry along the way, there are a variety of food and drink options at the Takashimaya Food Hall.

Cross the street to find Tangs Orchard, Lucky Plaza and Paragon. Just opposite Ngee Ann City, Paragon houses upmarket boutiques such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Balenciaga, Tod’s, Miu Miu and Dunhill.

No, don’t stop yet, we’re not done. Proceed up Orchard Road to the direction of Somerset MRT Station (NS23) and you will find The Centrepoint, which offers renowned brands such as Swarovski, Timberland and many others. Just across the road is 313@somerset which is located just above the Somerset MRT Station. Drop by the new Orchard Gateway, which offers hip, high street fashion boutiques.

Walk further in the direction of Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station (NS24/NE6/CC1) until you find Plaza Singapura which offers a mix of entertainment, lifestyle, and, most of all, numerous dining options.

Stopover 2: Bugis

The Bugis shopping experience may not be as glitzy and glamourous as Orchard Road. However, be prepared to be enthralled by Bugis Street, Singapore’s largest street bazaar. It has over 800 stalls which offers clothing, accessories, food and souvenir items. Haggling is possible here, unlike in upmarket departmental stores.

Bugis+, located right next to Bugis Street, is one of the malls along the area that you shouldn’t miss. A crystal façade which sparkles in the day and lights up at night, it offers various brands such as Aeropostale, Adidas, Sephora and Bershka.

Just across Bugis Street is Bugis Junction which houses BHG, a large departmental store. Bugis Junction is located just above Bugis MRT Station (EW12/DT14) and has plenty of mouth-watering food options such as Nando’s, Fish & Co., Four Leaves bakery and Starbucks.

Stopover 3: Marina Bay

Shop at the heart of Singapore, starting at the iconic Raffles Hotel. Opened in 1887 and retaining its vintage appeal, Raffles Hotel offers rare antiques, luxury labels such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany, and bespoke tailors. Head over to Raffles City which offers various designer labels such as Kate Spade, Omega, Shanghai Tang and Tommy Hilfiger. Raffles City is easy to spot as it is located directly about the City Hall MRT Station (NS25/EW13).

Wander around CityLink Mall which connects City Hall and Esplanade (CC3) MRT Stations. There you will find rows of hip boutique and restaurants.

Go further and drop by Marina Square, home to various boutiques such as Mossimo Dutti and Benjamin Barker. Just across Marina Square is Suntec City, one of Singapore’s largest shopping mall with over 300 retail stores spanning 4 spacious floors. When in Suntec City, don’t forget to drop by the Fountain of Wealth, listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the “largest fountain in the world” and built to adhere to Feng Shui principles.

For a quieter, more high-end shopping experience, head over to Millenia Walk, just a stone’s throw away. There you will find Cortina Watch Espace, Bose, B&W Bowers and The Emporium.

If your feet can still carry you further, take a stroll across the Helix Bridge to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands where you will surely be spoilt by luxury shopping options, including Miu Miu, Patek Philippe, Anne Fontaine and Stafano Ricci.

Stopover 4: Southern Waterfront

Can’t get enough of the Singapore shopping experience? Don’t stop yet. There are still a couple of malls at the southern waterfront. Take the Circle Line or North East Line to HarbourFront MRT (NE1/CC29) to reach VivoCity, Singapore’s largest shopping destination to date. Designed by Toyo Ito, a world-renowned architect, VivoCity offers dining, shopping and entertainment choices for the whole family. Shopping choices include TANGS, Samsung, Forever21, Miss Selfridge, Zara and Topshop.

Linked to VivoCity is Harbourfront Centre, which offers mid-range fashion, dining, sporting and electronic goods options.
