The annual Baybeats alternative music festival is back! Wondering what the line-up is like? Well, we’ve got the deets. A Singapore music producer seeking to break new ground by creating music in a flurry of mixed genres. This prolific artist releases new music every week to share his evolving music style, and to exemplify his journey as a continuous learning experience to inspire others. Currently the president of NUS Electronic Music Lab, Advent has performed at multiple events in campus, Esplanade’s Free Performances: Electric Avenue, Music Matters Live and Singapore Night Fest.

Canvas Conversations

Canvas Conversations navigates the vast expanse of electronic music through a myriad of sounds and textures, crafting songs and lyrics around these sonic elements. Since participating in Noise Singapore’s Music Mentorship Programme and receiving the Noise Singapore Award in 2015, the band has performed at Zouk’s Velvet Underground, Esplanade, and National Gallery Singapore during its opening week.

Formed in 2012, Disco Hue stormed the Singapore music scene with a fresh pop sound driven by synths and hooks. They recently released their debut EP ARCADE, steadily gaining ground and a rambunctious following in the music scene with their electronic beats, infectious vocal melodies and groovy bass lines.

Formed in early 2014, Koji is a four-piece rock band that takes electric infectious riffs and mixes them up with soulful solos and groovy beats. Influenced by Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Halestorm, Koji strives to create a seamless blend of heavy rock with soulful melodies.

Killeur Calculateur (MY)

Following the release of their album Book of Flags in 2014, Killeur Calculateur toured across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Receiving rave reviews from the regional and international music scene for their album and high-octane live shows, the band has also opened for bands such as Envy, TOE, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Battles.

With a new member on board, Cashew Chemists has expanded their sound with more varied and thoughtful instrumentation. Sonically, the band has never been more playful, moving on from its pop-rock love song antics towards a deeper introspection and more vivid imagery. Unclose is a three-piece rock outfit that uses dark, roaring strings to create a deeply intense live experience for fans at its shows. They classify themselves as “deep rock”, or “sekaikei” in Japanese, which is a subculture of modern Japanese literature that paints a picture of a dystopian world order.

I Am David Sparkle

I Am David Sparkle started out as an improvisational instrumental collective, and has since seen their sound evolving deeper into heavy, doom-laden riffage intersecting with mood and melody. This year, the band celebrates their 15th year with their third full-length album Art is Blood.
