What's On During the Jubilee Weekend

The National Day Parade on 9 August is the culmination of the year’s SG50 celebrations. The 7th of August has even been declared a one-off addition to the year’s list of public holidays! It goes without saying, that the long weekend from 7 to 10 August will be packed full of activities celebrating the nation’s 50th year of independence. Here are just some of the events that you can take part in!

Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2015 @ Marina Bay

Organised by the Community Chest, the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2015 @ Marina Bay will kick-start the Golden Jubilee weekend on 7 August bright and early with both a fun walk and a vertical marathon. The fun walk is suitable for everyone, and participants will walk a 4-kilometre route around Marina Bay. The competitive vertical marathon, on the other hand, will see teams of four race up 57 levels at Marina Bay Sands, Tower 3, to reach the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark. If you didn’t make it in time to register, there will be a carnival with balloon sculpting, face painting, handicraft and appearances by beloved mascot Sharity Elephant. Everyone present will also be invited to take part in the community drumming event, symbolising a united heart beating as one, so bring down your own percussion instruments (DIY is welcome) for this!
