Highlights of Swissôtel Vertical Marathon 2012

The vertical marathon this year includes team and individual categories. The individual categories are divided by gender and age groupings from 20-50. There is also an open category for individuals. The team categories are the “Buddies and Besties” challenge in which competitors can race with a friend and the corporate challenge. This year the marathon is introducing the “Sunrise Team Challenge” which will allow competitors to enjoy the sunrise after completing the race with their team mates. This category however is limited to the first 50 pairs of participants so it is advisable to register as soon as possible.

One of the perks of the vertical marathon apart from the accomplishment of having completed a highly strenuous race is that competitors will be given the opportunity to pledge money to the adopted charity. All proceeds collected from registration of corporate teams will also go to charity. This year the marathon hopes to raise S$40,000 for the Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School which is a special school for children with multiple disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The registration fee includes freebies such as participant t-shirt, race bib, timing chip and assorted premium goodies and products. The prizes awarded to the top three winners of each category include trophies and room stays at the Swissotel. The champions will represent Singapore at the exclusive Empire State Run-Up 2014 in New York City with sponsored air fare and accommodations. There will also be special awards for the most creatively dressed and the oldest male and female participants. Upon completing the race, participants will be awarded with a finisher medal and personalized e-certificate.
