Pasta Fresca – Serving Fresh Italian Pasta Since 1988

Did you know that Pasta Fresca also means “Fresh Pasta” in Italian? True to its name, Pasta Fresca Da Salvatore prides itself on serving on only the freshest.

The visitors.sg team attended a food tasting session at the soon-to-be renovated Boat Quay outlet. Nestled right in the heart of the bustling central business district just five minutes away from Raffles Place MRT station, you have the choice of dining indoors or semi-alfresco along the Singapore River. We love watching the River Taxis go by – if you’re good with imagination, you can envision dining along Italian waters and watching gondolas go by.

The Story

Pasta Fresca has come a long way since 1988, where everything started with modest shop producing fresh pasta, sauces and ingredients at Bukit Timah Road. Back then, there were only three tables in the shop. Now, the Italian chain has expanded with outlets in Boat Quay and Siglap as well. Now located in a bigger facility, the Pasta Fresca factory produces fresh pastas, sauces, and ingredients daily, even catering to major F&B outlets, hotels and other businesses!

The Food

Like its fresh pasta selection, Pasta Fresca boasts an impressive menu selection as well. Apart from the usual starters, mains, pizza and desserts, there are menus specially catered for vegetarians and children - how’s that for hospitality?

Prosciutto Crudo e Mozzarella (S$19.90)
Italian Parma ham and fresh mozzarella cheese dressed with oregano, olive oil and olives.

This pretty Italian delicacy tastes as good as it looks. We’re told that the ham is an Italian specialty – and complemented with fresh mozzarellla cheese, oregano, olive oil and olives, it's the perfect dish to whet your appetite for the wonderful feast to come.

Polpa di Granchio  (S$20.20)
Crabmeat sautéed with garlic, crushed black pepper and cherry tomatoes in tomato sauce and white wine

This pasta dish may be a handful to pronounce but try it anyway. Simple but chock-full of flavour, this Chef’s recommendation aims to please. The chefs aren’t stingy with the crabmeat either – you’ll be able to savour the taste of the finely shredded crabmeat with every mouthful. Don’t worry; the garlic doesn’t leave an aftertaste – perfectly safe for dinner dates and business meetings.

Rucola, Mozzarella Fresca e Pomodorini  (S$20.90)
Pizza topped with with cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh rucola

Your classic, healthy pizza – we love the thin crust! Notice how the colours reflect the colours of the Italian Flag. Snap a photo before you dig in – with colours like this, it’s going to turn out amazing.

Zuppa di mare all’ Amalfitana - S$18.00
Seafood soup with a combination of prawns, mussels, clams, and squids cooked in rich tomato sauce and served with garlic bread

Packed with all the goodness from the sea and cooked in rich tomato sauce, this Chef’s Recommendation is sure to be a hit with seafood lovers. Dip the garlic bread into the rich tomato sauce… mmmm. Being a soup dish, the tomato sauce tastes great by itself too!  And because the good people at Pasta Fresca believe in serving generous portions to prolong gastronomical experience, you may want to share this with a friend.

Lasagne Gratinate all’ Emiliana  (S$20.20)
Pasta sheets layered with Bolognese sauce, béchamel, mozzarella and parmesan cheese

We know, you can get Lasagne almost everywhere, but trust us, there’s a reason why this is a Chef’s Recommendation. Just look at the melted cheese! There’s something very satisfying about knowing that this was made from fresh pasta, too.

Filetto di Salmone (S$31.90)
Grilled salmon fillet served with broccoli, potatoes and lemon butter sauce

At this point, we’re already bowled over by how perfect each dish looked. Best of all? The salmon fillet was grilled to perfection, completely cooked on the outside and ever-so-slightly pink in the middle. The lemon butter sauce adds a refreshing tangy twist to the dish.

Tiramisu Al Mascarpone e Caffe (S$10.30)

What’s a meal without dessert? Soft, light, moist, melt-in-the-mouth with a non-intimidating subtle coffee flavour, the Tiramisu is another one of the Chef’s Recommendations. If you fall head over heels in love with this luscious treat like we did, you’ll be glad to know that you can place an advance order for a whole cake.

To ensure a consistent standard of quality, Executive Chef Mr Angelo Sergio, a Southern Italy native, makes his rounds around the outlets island wide to supervise. Hailing from Rome, Chef Alessio is extremely talented at making new menu suggestions – you can catch up with his new creations on the Pasta Fresca Facebook page!
