Event Highlights to Welcome the Year of the Goat

Soak in the festivities of the Lunar New Year with exciting events this February! Chinatown is bustling with a flurry of exciting activities as we welcome the year of the Goat, and we’ve rounded up some events for you join in the fun.

Chinatown Street Light-Up 2015

Not to be missed is the official street light-up along Chinatown. Organised by the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee (KA-KS CCC), the festive mood in Chinatown will spring to life as 338 goat-shaped lanterns – the most number of zodiac lanterns ever made – and 1,500 glistening gold coin lanterns take centre stage in this year’s street decorations that will light up the Chinese enclave.

The organisers manage to outdo themselves every year – and this year, you will be treated to spectacular sights along Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, South Bridge Road and Garden Bridge. This year’s light-up features a refreshing and innovative Goat-themed design, specially conceptualised by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Look out for the centerpiece of this year’s street light-up, a 10-metre high structure featuring goats perched atop a mountain at the intersection of Eu Tong Sen Street and Upper Cross Street.
