Relive Memories of Yesteryears at Plaza Singapura

Before tablets, smartphone, gaming consoles and computer games took the world by storm, Singapore’s children of 70s and 80s entertained themselves with inexpensive games and toys – and had immense fun. Remember those days where the simplest things in life could bring about so much joy?

This June, take a trip down memory lane with Plaza Singapura as they present a three-week carnival, PS40: Shaping Our Memories in conjunction with its 40th year anniversary celebration. Through this event, Plaza Singapura aims to “create a golden platform for parents to relive their favourite, treasured pastimes while sharing the knowledge, history and memories with their own children”.

There will be 10 booths featuring old school games, and visitors can look forward to playing games like chapteh, zero point, five stones, kuti kuti, pick-up sticks, gasing and more. Parents, don’t worry about difficulty levels because some games have been modified especially for your little ones. Fantastic prizes are up for grabs as well – don’t miss this!

You can also indulge in favourite childhood past-times and snacks of the 1980s. Old school toys, and snacks such as Haw Flakes (shan zha), White Rabbit Creamy Candy, Push Pops, Magic Dust Lollipop + Popping Candy, Eyeglass Chocolate Candy will be on display and available for sale!

Sign your little ones up for the Terrarium Workshop! The workshop aims to instill an eco-friendly mindset in children through hands-on experience. Children will learn about the concept of a terrarium through live demonstrations of planting in a bottle. They’ll get to bring their pretty masterpieces home, too.

There will be a showcase of gorgeous vintage Vespas as well, so head on down to Plaza Singapura and bask in some good ol’ nostalgia!

Special appearances by iconic characters such as Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and Dinosaur Train over the weekends will add panache to the extravaganza.

This holiday break, get your children to put away their tech toys and make a trip down to Plaza Singapura to relive the memories of yesteryears!
