Singapore’s reputation overseas tends to gravitate towards that of a clean, organised and modern – if slightly strict – city, but a thriving nightlife awakens after the sun goes down.
There is plenty to keep you busy – there are midnight movie screenings at almost every cinema, 24-hour eateries abound and you can even indulge in a 3am shopping run at Mustafa Centre in Little India or selected supermarkets should the urge take you. But for the real party scene, you need to hit up some of these hotspots.
St James Power Station
St James Power Station was built in 1927, and was Singapore’s first coal-fired power station. The capacious red brick building has since been decommissioned and converted into one of Singapore’s largest music and nightlife venues. Its 70,000 sq ft (6,500 m2) space houses 11 different clubs and bars, each with its own theme and music selection.

Clarke Quay is one of Singapore’s most popular dining destinations, but it also caters to those for whom dinner is merely the start of the day. Interspersed with the restaurants and eateries are a number of pubs, bars, lounges and clubs, most of which have no problems pulling in the crowds. Don’t miss Attica, Club Dream. Have some quick bites to eat at the Lilypad before making your way into Attica for R&B and Top 40 hits, the Courtyard for a more casual party scene or Attica Too for the ultimate VIP experience.
